Houston, US, 77056 Iowa City, US, 52242 Washington, US, 20057 Columbus, US, 43210What You Can ExpectAs our Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a diverse team of engineers to execute large-scale construction projects from inception to operation for a diverse portfolio of technology in the energy sector. The Engineering team is critical in supporting the delivery of large capital projects safely, on budget, and on time, within the Energy Solutions North America business unit.This position requires a strategic leader who can lead the development and construction of complex installations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigate risks during the life of a project. This person will be accountable for the team that is responsible for all aspects of design for energy systems encompassing the production and distribution of electricity, chilled water, heating hot water, and steam, along with the distribution of natural gas. This role will also lead the deployment of management systems, procedures, processes, and templates to streamline and industrialize the implementation of projects across the division.

  • For business development projects or acquisitions, this role will highly interface with the business development team based in Houston. For projects at existing partnerships, this role will liaise with the other members of the Local Capital Projects Team including, but not limited to, Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Iowa University in Iowa City, IA and Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.You will report to the Vice President of Major Projects & IPOS.What You'll Bring
    • You possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering.
    • You have a minimum 10 years' experience in an engineering role related to utility or power infrastructure projects, with at least 3 years' experience in a management or leadership role.
    • You have experience leading and managing an engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation to create a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
    • You will create and maintain engineering standards for all disciplines including but not limited to electrical, instrumentation and controls, and mechanical, to enhance efficiency and optimize operational margins.
    • You will advise business development teams during early-stage opportunity development processes by sizing and selecting equipment and performing due diligence activities; stages of overall involvement include sales and development, design and permitting, procurement, and construction.
    • You will assist in the development of contracts by drafting the scope of work and technical exhibits such as performance exhibits, reviewing bid proposals, and providing input on the technical scope during contract negotiations.
    • You will establish and enforce quality control for all internal and external produced engineering deliverables, being accountable for the overall quality of all engineering documentation.
    • You have experience developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor engineering status, compliance, and performance for every large project.
    • You will create an Engineering Community to enhance people's skills, knowledge, and share lessons learned to grow the competency of the engineering project function.
    • You will act as a center of excellence in developing innovative solutions and implementing best practices to bring this know-how into our business and capital projects development and execution efforts.
    • You will champion a culture of collaboration by actively engaging with other Global Business Units in North America and in the ENGIE Group to solidify our engineering solutions and exceed business expectations.
    • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy.
    • Must be available to travel domestically up to 20% of the time.
    • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
