Description:Parent Educator: Bethany for Children & Families has
a current opening for a Parent Educator to work out of our Moline,
Illinois office. The Nurturing Parent Program is an early
intervention program funded through the Illinois Department of
Children & Families Services. The program serves DCFS-involved
families with a goal of preventing out of home placement of their
children or assisting parents in reunification efforts. Individual
parenting sessions will be conducted in the home environment, as
appropriate. Developing and implementing a group parenting
component and positive collaboration with other service providers
is required. The Parent Educator will utilize an evidenced-based
curriculum to deliver services according to set standards and
policies.
Salary - $47,828.70

Parent Educator Position Specifics:The Parent Educator is
responsible for providing educational, community, or social
services to children and/or parents assigned to his/her caseload
and under the parameters of the guiding program plan. The Parent
Educator must be able to develop a supportive relationship with the
clients assigned to him/her and assist them in meeting the needs
and goals documented in the specific program treatment plan. The
Parent Educator will maintain a service caseload as determined
within the specific program plan by:a) Assessing the
appropriateness of requests for services and interpreting the
agency's services effectively to the client.b) Formulating a
preliminary and tentative assessment of client's functioning and
reviewing appropriate information with the Supervisor to develop an
effective case plan/treatment plan commensurate with the clients'
needs.c) Managing a workload, which involves decision-making and
accountability; using time in an organized and structured manner to
provide services to clients assigned to his/her caseload and meet
performance objectives.d) Maintaining case records, submitting
required reports, providing statistical data, etc., in accordance
with the agency's expectations.e) Meeting regularly with the
Program Supervisor to discuss clinical issues, issues surrounding
service delivery, and critical issues requiring supervisory consent
or referral source authority.f) Developing and utilizing knowledge
of agency and community resources appropriate to established case
plans, and assessing the usefulness to individual client's needs.g)
Being readily accessible to his/her clients for meetings according
to their schedule or contract requirements at client-convenient
times of the day or night.h) Demonstrating a capacity and
initiative to increase professional skills and knowledge.i)
Maintaining a professional relationship with peers and other
service referral resources and providers.j) Attending meetings
related to agency services and/or staff training.Requirements: The
Parent Educator must have:1. A Bachelor's degree in social work,
human services, or education, depending on the specific service
field and contract requirements. Preference will be given to
applicant's with relevant experience.2. The ability to provide own
transportation in performing job requirements, including a valid
driver's license and acceptable insurance coverage.3. The ability
to assess, develop, and execute agency and program goals and
objectives.4. The ability to work within a team framework,
contributing to and supporting established agency decisions,
processes, procedures, and policies.5. Sensitivity and
responsiveness to cultural differences in the community.6. The
ability to fulfill all of the regulatory requirements for employees
of Child Welfare Agencies as are prescribed in Illinois
Administrative Rule and Procedure, including successful completion
of the criminal background investigation, clearance from the
Illinois CANTS and Iowa Registry, and certification as a driver of
children by the Illinois Department of Children and Family
Services.7. The ability to effectively communicate orally and in
writing.8. The ability to maintain a flexible schedule in response
to client-need.
